Description:

Jack Sheremetoff, a Lonely Planet recommended guide, offers his Baikaler Hostel (he'd rather call it a '3 guest room apartment') in the epicenter of Irkutsk (corner of Lenin and Karl Marks streets).

The location of the hostel is unbeatably central and ultimately convenient. You can walk everywhere you need within minutes: ATM (3 min), Internet cafe (5 min), pizza or restaurant (5 – 15 min), Art Museum and supermarket (15 min), Angara river (10 min)

The hostel has all facilities, clean and roomy. All the rooms are separated, have comfortable beds and well lit.
The shower is really good, better than in hostels of SE Asia and Middle East :)

In summer, when the centralized piping system is being fixed - resulting no hot water in the central Irkutsk, including big hotels - we use our own electric boiler to heat the water.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Fast and smooth visa registration is arranged upon request (add 300 Rub per visa).

Tours to lake Baikal, transfers to Listvyanka or Olkhon island and other destinations can be arranged. Suggestions on how and where to go in Irkutsk or lake Baikal. Also, you are welcome to join our ongoing tours (if any)

Welcome to the Baikaler Hostel!

PS. The Lonely Planet guidebook says: 'Finding a good accommodation in Irkutsk can be tricky'.

Jack Sheremetoff says: 'Not anymore! You've got one!'

Please note that due massive number of changing plans, shifting arrival dates and no shows, I leave a right to provide alternative accommodation in one of the centrally located hostels for the same rate if your booking is messed up.

Please note that we don't want everyone to be disturbed by night arrivals. Check in after midnight (before 7am) is not possible.
Please keep in mind that all trains in Russia are on Moscow time (Irkutsk time = Moscow time + 5hr). So if you train ticket says:
arrival time is 3 am that in fact means 8am local time.
