Krestovka Day 1 Depart by road to Krestovka, a hidden spot on lake Baikal shore. The distance between Irkutsk and the place is 225 km, from which 210 of the main road - paved - can be covered for 3 hrs. The last 15 km of the forest road will consume as long as 1 hr of driving through the lonely fields and forests. - En route: stop for dinner. Activities: Walking to the hill nearby to enjoy the panorama of the lake. If the air is not hazy or foggy, the delta of the Selenga river could be seen. Inspecting the remains of the ancient fortress. Otherwise our accommodation is a wooden house, no running water, outhouse, electricity in evenings. Double occupancy. Leanings, towel. Food cooked by a house owners.
Day 2 Breakfast. Hike to the White Wall. The
distance between the farm and the Wall is 6 km. Depending on the physical
abilities, the hike route could go along the shore there and back (difficult),
forest/steppe there and back along the shore (moderate) and forest/steppe
both ways (easy).
Day 3 Breakfast. Return by road to Irkutsk. Note: this trip is a good
start for the tour to Olkhon island (add 3
days) Also, The tour can be enriched by meeting a shaman and visiting a shaman places (n our way there/or back, 0.5 day) located in Tazeran steppes, around the village. However, to avoid commercialization of Siberian shamanism, a 'shaman' part of a tour will be organized for those who express a real, serious interest in Siberian culture and shamanism.
