1 day tour to Listvyanka, lake Baikal

Day 1

1 hr introductory of Irkutsk - the city which is undeservedly forgotten by the travelers rushing to lake Baikal.

- Transfer from Irkutsk to Listvyanka (80km / 1 hr) by a comfortable sedan Toyota.

- En route: visiting the museum of wooden architecture (entrance fee is USD 3)

The Museum of Wooden Architecture - Taltsy - has a bunch of traditional Siberian houses - izbas- of XVII - XIX centuries. The museum was opened in early 80s. It was an attempt to save some old houses from being lost under
the water of Bratsk reservoir.Its oldest exhibit is the watch tower of Ilimsky fortress. Besides of that, it has a parish school building and Buryat gears (unlike in Mongolia, they are wooden)

The Shaman Rock, between the villages of Nikola, Listvyanka and port Baikal.

The Shaman Rock sticks out at the Angara river outlet. The fact that the water around it (and 10-15km downstream) never freezes amazed the locals. The Rock is popular subject of legends (and popular spot for seagulls).

Activities in Listvyanka:

- (Option) visiting a museum of flora and fauna (Entrance fee is USD 3)
- walking up to the Chersky Pick

- visiting two observation points 1) near the Baikal Hotel 2) near the uncompleted hotel (end of the village)

- (Option) visiting the Art Gallery

- your time to experience the lake

- Transfer Listvyanka - Irkutsk (returning the same day)
