Day 1
Departing by car to Olkhon island. The distance between the island's
main village - Khuzir and Irkutsk is 300km or 5- 7hrs drive (Including
the ferry ride and stop for a lunch in a off-road cafe. The ferry can
hardly handle the traffic in July-August, so be ready to wait for some
extra hrs).

| Khuzir is the largest settlement
on the island. First 'tourists' - Russian Cossacks - visited the island
in 1641. |
The community's two main sources
of income are fishing and tourism. |
Accommodation: family stay. simple wooden house. No running water,
toilet is outside. Full board.
Day 2
Full board. Observing spectacular Burkhan stone/Shamanka. Hiking along
a shoreline. Lunch. Your time to explore the village of lake. Staying
with a fisherman's family. Electricity. Russian banya/Sauna.

- kayaking (what type of kayak?)

| The Burkhan stone,
Olkhon island is one of the nine holiest places in Asia. Indeed, it
was formerly known as a Stone Temple. It has two distinct parts, each
with a cave. |
One large cave
has long been an important site for annual shamanic worship. It is
said that the cave has accumulated great energetic potential. |
Remember : Young children and people with unstable
physiology are advised not to enter the cave.
Day 3
4WD Photo safari! Driving 35 kms of dirt'n'bumpy road by Russian 'Jeep'
along the Western shore of the island to its Northern extreme point -
Khoboi (means 'tusk' in Buryat) Cliff.

| On our way, we
stop at the places called '3 brothers'. Breathtaking scenery and hiking
down to the former seal-hunting cave. |
The
Khoboi Cliff. 'Khoboi' in Buryat means 'tusk'. Column like clod has
a flat area on the top - nice object to climb to, wonderful view of
the deep blue Baikal.

Day 4
Breakfast. Return by road to Irkutsk.
Prices include all services, pointed in the itinerary:
transportation, accommodations, meals as noted, local guide-interpreter
services.
Besides of that: While we are on Olkhon, there
is a possibility to rent a little 10m diesel fishing boat and cruise up
to Ushkany
islands - the best place to watch Baikal Nerpa seals. It will take 8 hr
to get there, so expect to spend 1 or 2 extra days to do this. The boat
rent is not cheap. Please consider this option for a small groups of 2-5
people.
