The 1 day intensive tour to lake Baikal. This is an ideal short trip for outdoor lovers. It combines driving on ice with moderate 4 hr or so hikes. And lots of photo opportunities! You will see two sites otherwise unaccessible in one day: the tunnel of Old Railway and the village of Bolshie Koty.

Period: from 1st of February till 31st of March. Departure from your hotel / homestay: 9:30 am. Back to Irkutsk at 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. Duration of the tour is 8-9 hours. Map of the place. Transfer from Irkutsk to Listvyanka, Lake Baikal by car. Distance: 70 km or 1.5 hr drive.

Listvyanka is the village located on the lake Baikal shore close to the spot, where the Angara river finds its origin. On another side of the river, still on the lake's shore, there is an old port, port Baikal.

We drive over there on safe 0.7 m ice and you begin hiking along the Cuirum Baikal Railway to our meeting point - the 80th km of the railway. This is a happifying hike, where on your right you see the railway - monument of engineering of 19th century, while on your left there is an endless shining white desert of ice and snow. The distance between your starting point and our meeting is 6 km. By the time you approach the meeting point, the car will be awaiting for you there charged with just-cooked lunch and hot tea.

After our meal, we'll be continuing driving sort of back to Listvyanka but them 18km up North to the village of Bolshie Koty. We are going to explore the small 300 inhabitants village and hike on the ice toward Listvyanka some distance. At this point, the distance will be completely up to you.

You will be picked up at the agreed spot and transferred back to Irkutsk. To be sure, you will be accompanied by a local English speaking person, call him a guide, with a mobile telephone. The driver will also have a telephone.

Return by road to Irkutsk. Accommodation in Listvyanka can be arranged upon request. The price includes all transfers, lunch, local guide services, taxes.
